The Regional Government Specialist Boarding School № 4, Khabarovsk, Russia

Suncity

Update: 01 August 2016- The “Sun City” Holiday Program

Earlier this year, we had the joy of funding the “Kurs-East” camp for children at the Regional Government Boarding School № 4- a facility that houses children with disability, orphans and those under foster care. While striving to provide education and care for the children who have been deprived of parental love, it is also the mission of the school to nurture kindness and independence, helping young people adapt to adult life as they mature.
The holidays are approaching, yet, due to the lack of resources, the students will have to remain on the school premises. To make their break more stimulating, we have been raising funds for 7 educators to run a holiday program titled “The Sun City”. This program will focus on developing the necessary life and household management skills, essential for the orphans in transitioning to independent living. The required sum of AUD $1,400 will make a big difference in the lives of 81 disadvantaged children. With your invaluable support, these funds have now been raised and we are anticipating some great photos of children enjoying the holiday program!

Update: 06 April 2016- Back from the Kurs-East Camp

At last, we have received the beautiful photos of children from the Specialist Boarding School № 4, having a great time at the Kurs-East Camp, which was partially funded by the Little Cloud Foundation. We welcome your donations to support these children on a daily basis and to provide future opportunities similar to this one!

About this Project The  Regional Government Boarding School № 4 is a facility that houses children with special needs. Currently, there are 81 students living on the premises. These are children with disability, orphans and those under foster care. While striving to provide education and care for the children who have been deprived of parental love, it is also the mission of the school to nurture kindness and independence, helping young people adapt to adult life as they mature. The Little Cloud Foundation was keen to offer our support in this challenging aspiration. As a first step in this partnership, we have funded a one-week camping experience for 15 students. Young people attending the “Kurs-East” camp will have a unique opportunity to experience the historical, cultural and spiritual traditions of their ancestors. Students will learn about the rare and abundant flora and fauna of the Russian Far East and hear about the remarkable historical figures native to this land. We anticipate that this experience will inspire the children and adolescents, cultivating a strong sense of self and a positive future outlook. The camp will provide practical learning opportunities and allow children to connect with peers and adults beyond the walls of the specialist boarding facility. The cost of this camp for 15 students, covered by The Little Cloud Foundation, is AUD $2,390. The children are off to the camp today, on the 28 March 2016, and we are waiting impatiently to see the photos with the cheerful faces of those, whose hearts have been warmed and spirits strengthened by your generosity. We welcome donations to support future learning and enrichment opportunities for the students of the Regional Government Specialist Boarding School № 4.
